Setup

A cleared gun, no live ammunition in the room, and no interruptions. 7 rounds of inert ammunition and someone to run the timer. 30 to 45 minutes a day.

  1. 1

    The ready position: cocked and locked, safety on, finger off the trigger, eyes on the target. On command, bring the gun to eye level and press; the time runs from the command to the hammer falling. Focus moves from the target to the front sight as the gun comes up. 10 minutes.

    The draw: cocked, locked, and holstered, or hammer down on a revolver. Work the five steps of the draw for smoothness, then speed; the time runs from the command to the hammer falling. 15 minutes.

    Malfunction, position 1.
